Hey guys,
My doe Crescent has been giving me about 2 cups of milk a day. 1 cup morning and night. Lately she is only giving me 1/2 cup at each milking now.
Is she trying to dry herself off? Can they do that?
She kidded in March and I have only been milking her for about 3 weeks now.
Thank you!

Nice to hear from you Colleen. Hope you get a little free time soon!
Kelly, I am so glad you found something that helped. So she is probably feeling lots better and producing more. YEAH!
I do not have human kids so I thought I would just stay out of that conversation. LOL To update, after worming Crescent last week, I have noticed an increase in milk production. YEAH!
Thanks everyone - you ladies are amazingly friendly. I hope you didn't feel snubbed by me taking so long to reply. I am so busy with work/family/farm (sadly in that order) that there's been no time for fun online! I just know that when you're the new one to the flock it's best to get the lay of the land so don't mind me if I just take a bit of time to sort out the dynamics. I haven't been part of an online group lately AND am so excited about my goats (and finding people who share that enthusiasm) I didn't take the time I normally would to sort that out.
I do have a tonne of questions and won't be able to lurk for long :)
Thanks again - and sorry for another thread derail. I really am making a splash here!!!
Thank you Glenna, I knew one of you would post that for Colleen, since I am so computer illiterate. I SORRY, I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW!
Colleen, it wasn't my intention to scare you back into lurkdom!! I just wanted to be sure we stayed on track with the real Q at hand. :)
The herd name thread:

Hey Colleen, I have an idea! Why don't you take that privacy thingy back off of your profile and put some pictures of your goats on there for me to look at, cause I love looking at pictures! And you can put your people kids on there to if you want to show them off. I like people kids too. I put mine on my website. I like the name Flannelberrys and am curious about where that came from. We have a thread on here about where people got there herd names etc. in case your interested. I'd really rather you talk to us than LURK around. Sounds sort of scary.WHOOOOO! LOL! I was thinking of naming a goat Casper... Oh Yea ... Casper the Friendly Goat!!! That is so cool. I am so gonna do that...What ya'll think? I need a white kid born! HeHeHeHeHe! "CASPER the Friendly Goat" I gotta start counting letters...I love it!
Sorry - I do want to add (in case some reads this): Obviously not milking out 100% isn't going to cause insta-mastitis or other problems but may be what causes decrease in production (and of course would contribute to potentially developing mastitis) whether a goat or not.
Now really going back to lurking!
Ooops - sorry. My point was more just the connection that mammalian lactation is pretty much the same from species to species; it's not a new-fangled thing, just a closed, positive feedback loop whether human or goat :)
I'm thinking I'd best head back to lurker status while I get the lay of the land! Thanks.
Agreed! Sorry about the distraction. Thank you!
