I have a baby

I have a baby and I missed it. Im so mad at myself. I came home and she was just standing in the stall. It scared the crap out of me. Mom and baby seam to be doing great. Even though she hasn't latched on without my help, otherwise fluffy beautiful and sleepy. I can figure out how to send you all a picture from my phone so once I get inside and at my laptop I'm going to post a dozen. I'm so excitted

  • Congrats she's a cutie!!

  • Very sweet baby!  Congratulations! :)  I also love your lessons.  We are sure all learning lots of those!

  • I hate it when vets say things like that. I didn't have to raise goats for very long to realize that without a crystal ball, you shouldn't say things like that. I've had goats that barely looked pregnant give birth to triplets and quads! Long-bodied does are especially deceptive!

Thanks everyone. 6 days ago I had a vet tell me that if she was pregnant it wasn't anytime soon.
  • Love your lessons, sweetheart! We should all write us a running list of those on a barn wall, and when we sell, just make the buyers read them! You know how we have to keep repeating things for the goats sake. If we did this we wouldn't have to worry so much about forgetting to tell them things!

  • Thanks everyone. 6 days ago I had a vet tell me that if she was pregnant it wasn't anytime soon. So while I thought she would kid this week I wasn't as watchful as I should have been. I did prep like cleaned them out and made sure I had what I needed but should have checked her more often.

There was twins but one was dead and seamed under developed.

I've been out several times tonight and this last time she had her front feet up on mom and was trying to bounce. Absolutely adorable. Good luck Jim. Post pics. I'll be thinking of you guys and want to know how it goes. (and how beautiful Atreus's baby's are)

Lessons learned today... 1) don't listen so much to the vet. Stick with my gut. 2) I learned what it feels like when ligaments are gone. 3) don't go anywhere when I think it's close to time for my next girl. I won't miss the next one.
  • Hee! She looks like she's smiling in that first pic!! Congratulations!

  • She is precious, so I guess she is done, with a single huh? She is dry, so I assure it's been a bit unless you blow dried her!

  • hear she is.
