Absolutely to the shorter herd name! It is so disappointing to have that perfect name you love for a goat, but cant use it because the herd name is too long. :(

Kolti, you might want to call and make certain the name is available. (If Sweetwater is already used, you might try SweetH2O.) FWIW, I agree with Margaret that Sweetwater is better; when it comes to naming babies, shorter herd names are better to give you more flexibility.
give them a phone call - I have talked to them a few times and no one could have been nicer or more helpful!

Well I got bad news...i was on the pedigree search and sweetwater is takin and so is my last name which is weird!! SweetH2O is neat!! Im kinda bummed out now!! Gosh darn it!! Do u think KI Sweetwater would work or would that be too long??
SweetH2O shouldn't qualify as similar though it means the same thing. SweetWtr likely would or two words or a hyphenated word definitely would. I was so delighted my choice was available though the domain name is long gone. In a perfect world, Sweetwater will be available. Keeping my fingers crossed!
That would be a cute second choice! If they will except it! They will also turn down names that seem to much like another name so if the one is taken they MAY not except that one either, but I do like the idea of using it as another choice! That was some creative thinking!

Sweetwater would be better in my opinion! That's 10 spaces which is pretty nice. Mine is Bent Penny! I use Bent Penny Acres as our farm name, but only Bent Penny as my herd name!
