Thank you for letting me join your website. We own a small dairy goat farm near Whitehorse, Yukon. We have had goats for about 5 years and this past year have started to join Nigerian Dwarf goats to our herd of Nubians. Yukon gives its own challenge with weather of -50 degrees celcius and very little goat breeders/farmers in our area. We love our goats and are presently waiting for our Nubian/Alpine doeling who 4th freshening is due today. She was bred with a purebred Nigerian Dwarf buck. If milking NG are as successful as Nubian milking, we would like to switch over to NG goats. I'm looking forward to learning lots about the health of NG goats.

Welcome, Pauline! Those should be some cute babies. :) I live in Northern MN, and face a lot of weather challenges here as well. Not as much as you though! I look forward to hearing more about how you face those challenges as time goes on.
Hello Pauline, and welcome! I'm looking forward to hearing about how you handle the challenge of raising goats in such a rugged place as the Yukon. As an aside, when I saw you live in Whitehorse, I immediately thought, "she could possible have Dr. Michelle Oakley from the TV series "Dr. Oakley" as her vet!" LOL
Did your Nubian/Alpine kid yet?
I got my first goats the summer of 2010. (I think? lol) I'm located in Southern Oregon! Deborah's site has been an absolute God send and gold mine for me and my goats! She is a great mentor, even if I have only ever known her in cyber space. It's especially nice to have her perspective from a more natural herd management mind set, which can be hard to find on line or in books!
Hi Rachel, Thanks for the welcome!where are you located? Have you had Nigerian Goats for a while? This forum seems to be very interesting with lots of information. Pauline
WELCOME!!
