One of my does has a strange facial swelling. I'm 99% sure it's not CL or bottle jaw, as it's not in the right places or the right shape and size. It feels pretty hard. Any ideas?
Yikes, poor baby! I haven't seen any hornets around, but we have lots or carpenter bees and red wasps, both of which like to build their nests in our barn.

HERE is the link to a thread on this site where I shae a couple pics of my doe who I think was stung by a hornet last summer. It happened twice that summer, once on the ear, and a second time on the cheek. It went away completely after a couple of days. I hope that's how it goes for you as well. :)

It is her cheek. It's hard to tell in the picture, and even today I actually found it while petting her before noticing it visibly. But I thought some visual of it was better than nothing!
I think, unless it's somehow gone on its own, that she will have to visit our vet, because I don't know how to deal with those things on my own. I tried to look inside her mouth, but no beans. Possibly tomorrow my dad can help hold her and I can try again with a flashlight, but she really didn't like me trying to pry open her jaw! Anyway, since it isn't causing any apparent pain, can it wait safely until Friday? (I have a paper and a study group tomorrow and an exam Thursday.) If not I can probably convince someone to take her for me, or figure something out.
In the mean time, do you think a warm compress a couple of times a day might help?
Perhaps a salivary gland infection or a thorn? The pic looks like it's her cheek that's swollen. Bottle jaw is for sure under the jaw, and CL is usually over a lymph node.

I realized I forgot to update this: The swelling went away on its own. :)

Yes, or a spider bite! Hadn't thought of that. Good to hear it's looking better.

The swelling has gone down some today. Maybe it was a bee sting or something? I will continue to watch it and see what happens.

I thought of that, but definitely hope it's not. :/ It's not causing her problems eating.
It could also be an abscessed tooth, but it's hard to say by the picture.
(here it is for people to see here in the thread)
