Starlight Swallowed a House! :)

Just had to share a couple pics of my Starlight.  She's had triplets twice, but is much bigger this time.  Has been obviously pregnant since she was 2 months along.  She's on day 146 today, but not showing any sign that she's going to kid today.  Hope it's soon, because I'm sort of a wreck feeling like there are so many in there.  I'd like to get it over with. :)

  • I honestly haven't weighed them yet, but yes, the first born, a buckling, seems a bit large.  I'm going out now with the scale to do that.  I kept forgetting last night, and my barn isn't nearly close enough to the house. :)

He came nose and toes, but I still had to help pull him.  I went into the barn, and it had been two hours between checks.  She was pushing and very tired.  I mean, push with contraction, then her head would flop over on the ground and she'd really just lay there and breathe.  Sometimes it didn't seem like she was really going to push with the contraction until I had a finger inside trying to locate a foot to help.  She really wasn't making any kind of progress on her own.  The head didn't come through easy, and for a minute I thought it might not.  The doeling seems a more normal size.

  • Well, were they at least big twins? I had one this year that was really huge, and she had twins, but they each weighed 5 pounds!
  • And Starlight had...TWINS!  Only twins, after all my thinking that she was going to have more than triplets.  Crazy!  But, the placenta is out and all seems well.  I even bounced her and didn't feel anything that felt remotely like a kid.  Just smooth softness.

I'll add photos in introductions tomorrow.  Must sleep now. :)

  • Yeah, Deborah, that does make me feel a bit better. :)  I made the hay feeder from an old metal crib rail.  I actually have 4 feeders made so far, and one more rail to use for another one.  I used the bottom, one side and the two ends so far, and have the last side left yet.  That crib was a great find. :)

  • If it makes you feel any better, I don't think she looks as big as my does that have had quints. :) She's got a good looking start on her udder, and I love your hay feeder!

  • I'll keep ya posted, Julia. :)

Rachel, two would be fine with me. :)  Makes me feel a bit nervous thinking of more than three.

  • I thought for SURE one of my does had at LEAST three... probably four. She had two. lol Good luck! Can't wait for pics!

  • Wow Patty, she's BIG! I also have one who has triplets (last 3 times) who is bigger than ever this year and still has 5 weeks to go! I'll be watching and waiting to hear about Starlight! I'll bet she's READY to drop them! I'm betting on 4 for Starlight!
