  • Congrats!!!

  • Aww! How precious! !
  • I'm glad all went well. Most seasoned Mommas take good care of their babies. I have found that they don't produce as much milk with one as with multiples.  I also started milking my doe with single doeling as soon as I noticed that one side was bigger than the other. The baby had a favorite side.

  • That actually makes me feel a little better Suzanne, cause even though this is my first ND kid and therefore the littlest kid I have ever had by far, Butter has had babies about 5/6 times before and quads 2 of those times. I am pretty sure that she has never had a single before, so I am sure she will spoil her one little baby rotten herself. Since she is from such great milking lines and only has a single kid I imagine that we will get a little bit of usable milk soon too. My 9 year old Katie will be beside herself now. She is ready to be a milkmaid!

  • That's how I felt when my Sadie had her two little bucklings (soon to be wethers!), but I was relived to find out what a great momma Sadie turned out to be.  I'm sure Penny's momma will be wonderful as well:-)

  • Thanks, everyone! I am happy as punch with my little doeling and pleased to not have to even decide upon a name or if to retain or sale, or any of those tuff decisions like that. Since she will not have our herdname and was a single doe it is easy. It just seems fitting that she be Oldesouth' Bent Penny and be called Penny and she will stay here with me!  All I have to do is keep anything from happening to her now. How in the world am I going to do that, she is so tiny at not quite 3 lbs. and I can't watch her 24/7, even though I want to. I feel like I just brought a baby home from the hospital and am letting my goat babysit for me! OHHHH! I want to keep her just like she is but on the other hand I can't wait for her to grow up! Isn't that awful? She is just so special and has taken so long to get here and our first on top of all that!

  • What a cutie pie!  They are so much fun, enjoy:-)

  • Congratulations, Margaret! It is usually not more than 30 minutes between kids. They are usually finished if there is an an umbilical cord and membranes hanging out of the doe's back end. You rarely see that hanging out if there are more kids inside. The placenta, however, can take a few hours.

One right now, think she may not be done. How long can she wait to have a second? Penny weights close to 3lbs. on the little hanging milk scale.

  • Congrats!!! She is soooo cute! Can't wait to breed my doe!
