Record Keeping Forms for you

Hey guys! I don't have access to milk testing where I live, but I would like to start keeping better records. Especially now that my herd is getting larger. So I worked out some papers that I thought you all might get some use out of!! Click the image below to visit my site and print your records!

  • You actually do have a lab for milk testing very close to you, Rachel.  DHIA lab is in Salem so not that far in the overall scheme of things.  Their email address is Lab@wdhia.org.  Willamette DHIA, Joel Taylor, Manager; Lance; 3979 Silverton Rd NE, Salem, OR 97305;  (503) 362-1880.  I took samples there the first part of November and had both Capri and Summer tested.  Sadly, I had decided (only because of my number limitation!) to sell Capri so I milked her the morning I let her go with her two oldest doelings.  (It was even more difficult because I really wanted to keep the oldest one, 1 lb. 10.5 oz. at birth, and a real lap goat and smart as a whip.)  Capri tested at 10.8 butterfat with Summer at 8.98.  Remember when I posted the pictures of Capri's milk showing at least 40 percent cream in the jar?  That butterfat level sure shows why her babies have thrived so well. Of course, Summer's have too.  I was so lucky to have purchased two such fabulous does.  I didn't milk Capri for me at all this year and didn't milk Summer until at four months when I sold her triplets.  Summer gave me a quart a day and is still averaging a little less than a quart so I have not yet bred her, hoping she will milk over a year though she is going down in production right now at eight months.
Kind of got off-topic there but wanted to make you aware you have a lab close.  They have vials for you to send in samples.  I took mine in little jars and put it in their vials when I got there.  Most people mail in the samples.  It was rather cool as they had a slow day and my results were in my email in-box when I got back home.

  • These look great. Thank you for sharing all your hard work.

  • I live South of Roseburg by about 30 min, so I'm guessing we're about an hour or so apart? :) Always fun to see fellow Oregonians here!
