New to this site :)

Hello All! I am a Southern Illinoisian (formerly Iowan)  work at home mom of 2 teenage boys &  4 Nigerians. I am almost 2 years into my adventure of raising 4 of the most fun, loving, curious, mischevious, sometimes confusing and complicated little creatures!  My head is spinning with all the info I have read since we are expecting our first babies in a few weeks. I have 2 does Molly & Dolly (twins) a buck Steve and his wether friend Peter (nigerian/nubian). Both girls are expecting. I had originally planned to stagger babies so we could always be in milk giving the girls a good break in between. and as a beginner I did not expect them both to be pregnant with the first attempt! We did dates ( like 2 dates each!) I didn't run Steve with the girls. Steve did good! and I am kinda freaking out! lol! I am so glad to have found this forum with fellow nigerian mommies  on the other end!

  • We're about 100 miles from Chicago, but if you're in really southern IL, that's 5-6 hours away. This is a big state north to south! Have you seen the birth video on here -- http://nigeriandwarfgoats.ning.com/video/carmens-birth

We also videotaped a quad birth, but it hasn't been edited yet.

I did see that on your site! It would be sooo helpful and relieve some stress from the unknown. I looked up Pontiac and it's nearly chicago : (  I will be on baby watch then so I wouldn't be able to go that far. Any chance you can live stream it somehow???  :)

Welcome to the group, and congratulations on the upcoming babies. Not sure where you're located, but just in case you're interested, I have goat classes coming up on Feb. 18. The afternoon half is breeding and birthing, and I have seven goats due around that time, so you'll hopefully be able to feel tail ligaments in various stages of softening and see baby goats. Info is on my site: http://antiquityoaks.com/classes.html

  • I know of West Frankfort. We are about an hour east of there.  And I hear ya on the not traveling much! Luckily I am a home body : )   And yes they are worth it!

Welcom to the group!  It's a great group of people to "visit" with. :)  I'm expecting my first kids this May, and so excited as well.  And nervous, but trying not to freak.  My dad lives in W. Frankfort.  I love visiting Garden of the Gods and Giant City with my family when we get down there, which is not going to be often now that we have the goats.  That's okay.  They're worth it. :)

  • Thank you! It's a relief to know I'm not alone!  I totally know what you mean!  I go from having butterflies in my stomach with excitement to freaking out ! While they sit out there on their benches basking in the sun and chewing their cud. How exciting :)

Welcome to the group!! I am a new mommy also and have our first babies due in 10 days! I'm so nervous, yet so excited I can barely contain myself.  Every little move she makes I'm watching her like a hawk.  Can't wait to see your baby pictures :0)
