Well, I got my ADGA herd name back today, and of course Wonderland was not available. I am pretty bummed, because Wonderland was my herd name in every other registry and I was really attatched. But, what can ya do?
Anyway, I am trying to decide if I should change it to Wonderland Farm or an abbreviation and I would like opinions.
Wonderland Farm was my second choice when I first sarted my herd back in '08, but now I realize that it's pretty long for a herd name and reduces my options in names. For example, I have a doe named "Clara's Coraline" which would not fit under Wonderland Farm.
For abbreviations, I would go with WLF or WLD. My tattoo sequence is WLD2, but I think WLF makes more sense because it actually abbreviates my farm name, whereas WLD doesn't (WLF wasn't available as a tattoo in AGS). If I did abbreviations, WLF would be my first choice.
Anyway, I wanted to see what others thought. Would you go with the abbreviation
I hope I stuck this in the correct section. I wasn't sure where it should go.

Well, I decided to go with Wonderland27! I do really appreciate all of your advice and input, though! I don't want you to think I didn't take it into consideration! :)
I talked it over with my mom, shared your opinions, and explained about the name lengths and rules, etc. She didn't like the abbreviations without the vowels, and preferred the whole word. Considering that Wonderland27 was only one more space than the abbreviations, I decided to go with that. I do really like that it contains my entire herd name that I had previously, and I liked the looks of it better in the end. I stuck them front of a couple of my goat's names and deliberated before deciding.
I chose not to add a space between Wonderland and 27 because 1) I liked the shorter appearance in front of a goat's name, and 2) like my mom said, the space doesn't really make a difference with that. Plus it saved that extra space for name!
Anyway, thank you all for sharing your opinions and suggestions!
ADGA is the one that uses all caps. At least they are on all my papers.
1)I agree with Rachel it does!
2)Plus with the number you use 2 more of your spaces! ( I really wanted to use "Acres" in mine but sacrificed it because having name space is more important)
3) You may not have an option about letter case! (I guess I should have explained that the reason I was practicing it with the caps is because it is my understanding that one of the organizations ONLY uses caps ALWAYS - Can't remember which one though). I will have to pull out my papers and check! I have some triple registered so I can check it later. Don't have time right now!

Okay, I talked to ADGA and here are my options:
1. Leaving it as is, which I don't want
2. WNDRLND FRM
3. Wonderland 27
4. WNDRLND 27
I'm leaning toward going with a number behind either WNDRLND or Wonderland with the number. I would use 27, because it corresponds to Proverbs 27, a passage which I have quoted verses from on my website, Proverbs 27:27 being the most well know among us goat-people: "And there will be goats' milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and sustenance for your maidens."
At first I didn't like the number idea because I was thinking it would be just "Wonderland 2" or something, but I like 27.
So now what I need to decide is if I want to go with Wonderland 27 or WNDRLND 27. Both sound the same, but the abbreviations would be shorter by 3 spaces, which gives that extra bit of room for names. Wonderland 27, on the other hand, is most similar to my original herd name and is only four spaces longer than my original, but still two spaces shorter than adding Farm on the end.
So what do you guys think of these? Since they both sound the same, which one looks better? Is three spaces even worth considering in this decision?
Oh, clever! I'll just trick them into giving me the name I want! ;) Haha. I do like that though. A space doesn't bother me!
I'm definitely going to call. I'm too impatient to wait! The poor AGS people will probably be sick of me, as I already called today to ask about Wonderland Farm before I started really looking at it and thinking about it. lol.
If they won't go for that one maybe they would go for WNDR LND ...with a space! You might want to ask about it in a way that does NOT make it sound like the word though...hint hint..so that THEY don't make the connection! Like ask if "W" "N" "D" "R" space "L" "N" "D" would be available or without the space. Just say each letter seperate to them and I WOULD CALL them! It really helps if you can CALL with a few ideas and get answers right away. I KNOW! Lots less stress on you! Best to you! Hope you get it worked out in a way that makes you happy!
If they both said they had Wonderland Farm available and you like that except for the length you could also use WNDRLNDFRM which is the same amount of letters as Wonderland. But as you say, it is a mouthful!
Well, ADGA and AGS both said they have Wonderland Farm available, but I agree that it is just way too long. I don't want to be THAT limited with naming my goats, plus it's just kind of a mouthful.
I like all of your suggestions (Wonderherd is cute!), but I do definitely want to stick with something that contains Wonderland or abbreviate it. I've been with it a few years now and I can't imagine abandoning it now! It's also the only think I can think of that means something to me (it ties together my love for reading/lit with my 'farm'). I also have several name ideas that follow the theme! lol. Things like White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, Allison (because it sounds like 'Alice In'), etc.
I really like WNDRLND! I can't believe it never occurred to me to abbreviate it in a way that it could still be said as the word. Maybe that will be available and not too similar to whatever was taken that made Wonderland unavailable. I will call tomorrow and see. Wish me luck!
