I picked up my darling doelings today and they are settling in. One of them (Mallika) bleats a lot as she has been separated from her mother for the first time. She is much bigger than her niece, Prita who is 2 days older than her because she (Mallika) was a single birth, and Prita was a twin. I'm giving them Cherokee names since I live in Cherokee country. Mallika means Queen (and she is!) and Prita means dear one (which she is!)
Question: is this moonspots on Mallika?

Thanks Glenna, I mean't to mention that part. What Glenna is referring to are the little white dots on her ears. She has frosted ears! And some of them will have frosted faces etc.
She looks very much like Ginger, my yearling. Broken buckskin with frosted ears and nose; looks like yours might also have frosted ears. I posted photos of Ginger here last year and broken buckskin was the consensus.
Yes, she is a broken buckskin! The word "broken" refers to "white" markings that break up the normal color pattern. FYI: this term is also used in rabbits with the same meaning. In fact, although most people only refer to them as buckskins, technically that is not a color it is a color pattern and she would be more accurately described as a: black caped/tan, broken buckskin IMO. The part around her shoulders that is black is called a cape. But for some reason the registry papers that I have seen don't require such detail although they do request it. Personally, I feel that the color should be required also because buckskins come in a wide range of colors and shades although the black cape on any shade of brown/red from tan to mahogany does seem much more prevalent than others such as chocolates. People don't seem to want to bother or just don't know how to accurately describe them. I have does from a huge farm with papers that only say buckskin. And although one did look a little caped in just a slightly different color than her base coat in her baby pictures she really looks solid chocolate, Of course her papers say buckskin.Very cute girls, congrats!
Very pretty! Sweet names, too. Congratulations on your new girls. :) Nope, not moon spots. That's a broken buckskin, I believe. The color of the spots is the same as the main coat color, broken with the white. Moon spots would be another color over the main color.
