Hello from Wisconsin

Hi!  Currently I have four mini silky fainters.  I got them last summer.  They are all wethered and pets.  They were my first goats.  This spring I wanted to add two more goats to my herd.

The mini fainters are scarce in this area and also very expensive, so I decided to go with a different mini breed.  It was between pygmies and the Nigerian dwarfs, and I decided on the Nigerians.  In trying to get some tips about the breed, I stumbled across this forum.  I'm sure it will be very helpful for me!!

    Welcome to the group!  I have found this group to be so helpful and friendly! 

    If your goats are going to be pets, I think two would be enough.  You could maybe get a wether and a female and then if you decide you want more later on, you could breed the female.  =)

    Welcome Laurie!  You are right, this group will be very helpful!  I got my first 2 goats last spring (2 Nubian Weathers) and will bring home my first 2 NDG's (2 doelings) this spring.  I have been asking question on this forum for the past few weeks and have recieved many helpful responces.  It is a wonderful resource.

    No, they will just be pets.  Question about goats in general.  Should I get two goats or three?  It's a question about buddying.

    WELCOME!! Glad to have you!! I'm still pretty new to goats... working on building my dairy herd with NDG. Your fainters sound fun!! Can't wait to see some photos!
