Hello from Wisconsin

Hi!  Currently I have four mini silky fainters.  I got them last summer.  They are all wethered and pets.  They were my first goats.  This spring I wanted to add two more goats to my herd.

The mini fainters are scarce in this area and also very expensive, so I decided to go with a different mini breed.  It was between pygmies and the Nigerian dwarfs, and I decided on the Nigerians.  In trying to get some tips about the breed, I stumbled across this forum.  I'm sure it will be very helpful for me!!

  • Welcome to the group!  I have found this group to be so helpful and friendly!

If your goats are going to be pets, I think two would be enough.  You could maybe get a wether and a female and then if you decide you want more later on, you could breed the female.  =)

  • Welcome Laurie!  You are right, this group will be very helpful!  I got my first 2 goats last spring (2 Nubian Weathers) and will bring home my first 2 NDG's (2 doelings) this spring.  I have been asking question on this forum for the past few weeks and have recieved many helpful responces.  It is a wonderful resource.
  • No, they will just be pets.  Question about goats in general.  Should I get two goats or three?  It's a question about buddying.
