Hi y'all!
Thanks for letting me join this group. We recently sold a small farm (well, we bred a few horses and had a small garden) in NC and are currently in a rental house until my son graduates from high school in June. Then we are moving to the farm (which we actually intend to farm...goats, big garden and all) we recently purchased in TN, north of Nashville. I found a breeder of ND goats and purchased a sr doe, a jr doe and two bucklings and the breeder is "boarding" them until I am in TN and ready for them. I have read everything I can find on the internet or buy from Amazon about goats in general and ND goats in particular. Of course, I realize now that I may have screwed up and bought from a "pet" breeder (though the sr doe has been milked). I was just so afraid that everything would be sold by July and I really wanted to start my herd as soon as I hit the ground in TN. They have some of the major herd names in their pedigrees but I realize that may not mean a thing. We'll see what happens and as soon as we are settled I will be looking for some does with good milking bloodlines...yeah, I know....good luck with that. But I can learn with my "starter" goats and I bet I love them just as much as any goats I buy in the future! Just so excited to embark on this adventure!

Thanks for all the welcoming messages! I'm sure I will have TONS of questions eventually...and will probably need some virtual hand-holding when I get to the disbudding and castrating parts of raising goats. (I so dread the disbudding....)

Hi Jackie!
Welcome to the group! I'm in NC, the east side now. I was in the western NC mountains for a few years (Roan Mountain), so was close to TN also. You may surprised that you'll be able to find some nice does in this area. Put your name on waiting lists. NCPromisedland sells quite a few nice Nigis, also Kids Corral in Marion (one of mine came from this breeder), Cornerstone isn't far (VA), and a lady with some of the Tiny Tots and Caesars Villas (Karen Stanger). Her herdname is End O' Way. She doesn't have a website, but is good friends with the Kids Corral herdmistress. I believe each of these herds does well at showing and has very nice milk lines.
