After 8months with us, our goats showed a "light load" in their fecal count...So now we have to give them some Ivemec...I picked up the pre-loaded syringes from my local vet office (my large animal vet was good enough to leave them for me since I had to take the dog in anyway)...So question...I know I am supposed to pinch up the skin and make a little "tent" to do it, but when I pinch and pull it up it feels almost like 2 layers...is this all skin or do I need to try and get between the layers?
I am kinda freaking out a little about doing this myself.
Please and Thank you in advance for any advice

Fortunately we are not milking at this time as we opted to not breed her until later in the yr when I have less on my plate.
My vet just returned my call and confirmed what you said Patty about oral administering...yay VERY VERY GOOD NEWS....Today is a happy goat day :)

Hi Kelsie :)
Just take the needles off the syringes, stick the syringe into the corner of the goats mouth and squirt it in. Keep the goats head tipped back when you do it and she'll swallow it. Wormers are most effective given orally. Good news, right? :)
I know what you mean by it almost feeling like 2 layers. I stick it in underneath both layers as I can still feel the solid muscle underneath this.
And if you're milking your goats you might want to check out the milk withdrawal time on the Ivomec injectable. I think it's a really long time. Deborah posted something about it within the past couple of weeks.
