Doeling acting bucky

My 12 week old doeling Leela, has been mounting the littler doeling, Prita. Is this normal? She's much bigger and heavier and obviously going to mature much earlier (she was a single birth). They have been acting bucky a lot, butting heads and all, but the mounting has me a little concerned. Could she be going into heat already?

  • Thanks ladies! I knew butting heads was okay but was concerned about her mounting the little one all the time. She's such a bully that one!

  • Rachel is right, they do that stuff for no real reason. Especially, the butting heads, is very common with does anyway. They are mostly playing and establishing their order in the herd. They don't usually go into season at that age, although I have had one breeder tell me that she had ONE that did at 13 weeks. They will also do that if someone else is in season, so if you have an older doe that could be in that could trigger that too. But it very well may be nothing at all. It certainly isn't anything to worry about!

  • I think it's pretty normal behavior. Mine do it all the time... I think it's more of a play/practice thing at this age.
