  • Sophia, please do read some of the other in depth discussions we have had on the forum about this. There are several and a lot to learn, but well worth learning to do it yourself. Unfortunately we have had horror stories and they are almost all vet related. Especially when it comes to disbudding. As Rachel pointed out, there is a little output for supplies which is usually less than paying a vet if you have a few to do. And once you have purchased your supplies the next kids you do won't cost anymore.

  • If you're going to be doing it more than once, for sure it's cheaper. Your cost is mostly up front for the iron and whatever tool you need for whichever method you choose to castrate with.
