I seem to be the only one with goats who are not interested in the BOSS. But I've only offered it with seed shell still on it. What do you all do. Did your goats like it immediately.
They love almost all other food that I offer. Theoretically it might mean the don't "need" it but really - they are little pigs - you'd think they'd jump all over it.
Please educate.

Hmmmm. Maybe I should do it that way at mid-milking. I currently give them as treats so I know how much each is getting and then non-milkers get them as well.
I've never tried to feed sunflower seeds separately to my goats. They are mixed in with their grain, so they have no choice as to whether or not they get them.
Mine love them with the shells on, haven't had the option of shelled. They know the sound of them in a container and come running! Recently we had a sunflower seed accident where they got into them! (Thought the coffee cans full of them were in a safe place - ha!)
Mine love it. I feed it with the shell on and this reminds me mine love a peanut with the shell on too as a treat though both BOSS and peanuts can be pretty fattening for goats that aren't in milk.

Mine like it fine with the shells on, but they didn't at first. They are funny about new things. They wouldn't try raisins at first, either, but now they'd knock me down and walk across my prone body to get to a single raisin. I have to dole them out in tiny amounts after milking and keep them locked away the rest of the time.
Anyways, among the 22 we milked this year there are a couple who hate the BOSS and knock the food containers to dump it off the top so they can get to their preferred stuff underneath. So yeah, I guess it can just be a goaty personal preference:-)
Yes, that's how I feed it! Shell on.
I mix it in their grain while milking and they like it very well. Because my goats tend to get fat as the milk season wears on I decrease the amount and then take it away all together when not milking. I do feed it shell on.
Boy, I don't know!! Mine like it just fine!! Especially if they are hungry. Maybe try it before you feed anything else?
