would like opinions on a milk goat

I am considering the daughter of this nd and don't have the particulars at the moment but was told that she averages 3 pounds. i am looking for just a family milker and I believe that with two producing that it will be sufficient. I think that she looks ok and could only hope that daughters would also, but I haven't read enough information to don't know how to select a decent doe. Anyway here is a photo of the doe. She is from a farm that milks, and doesn't show. Thanks

  • You also need to consider the sire's dam. Bucks can have a huge impact on their daughters. I can trace all of the crazy quintuplets on our farm back to the third buck I ever bought. His dam had lots of quads and a set of six one time. However, his daughters were also my best milkers five years ago. It was the first buck I was smart enough to buy based upon the milk in the pedigree.

  • From the side, her udder looks decent to me. She def. looks like she's got nice teats. You can ask the seller how her udder feels at milking... (is it meaty or soft after milking?) Meaty udders can often *look* good, but still have a little bit of firmness that soft (sometimes called buttery) udders have when they are emptied. A photo of her udder from the rear would be nice to have also. It looks from this angle, like she has nice space between her legs, and the udder fills that area.
