I have two bucklings. One born June 19, 2014 and the other born May 11, 2014. And I was wondering if one or both of them will be able to successfully impregnate my does???? If not, when will they be able to mate????

  • Ok, that makes me feel better. Thank you ladies!! Close call today with the boys. We saw a fox about 30 feet from the boys pen. Not happy at all.

  • I have had the same experience as Julia. At 3 months, the boys went through the right actions, but didn't shoot successful "bullets" so to speak. Once they were 6 months, they were able to breed AND impregnate.

  • Great, thanks for the info!! I really appreciate it.

  • At the age your bucklings are, they CAN impregnate your does but whether they will be successful is dependent on your bucklings. Your 3 month old buckling is probably not ready for that yet but in a couple of months he may be ready. Some that age act like they were born ready but some just take more time to mature. You can certainly try it when one of your does comes into heat and see if he pulls it off. He may be able to complete the deed but she may or may not settle. In a couple of more months I'll bet you'll have more success. Generally speaking, after about 6 months old your success rate will be a lot higher.
