My vet suggested I add some wheat germ to my goats diet since I've been a tad concerned with zinc deficiency.
Last night - my two most sensitive to things (black one and brown one) goats started shaking ears. Obviously - it could be mites but I looked - ears inside are clean, no smell, no scabs, no nothing. And it was sudden shaking.
In dogs - in my experience - ear issues are an allergy reaction usually related to food.
I'm stopping this wheat germ and will see if this ear flapping goes away but it made me wonder - any experience out there with wheat germ - positive or negative.
I'm pretty certain there is no ear mite issue although if it continues - I'll check more carefully, but anyone ever see a food reaction this way?

Well - I'll find out - I'll have my kinesiologist test to see what it is. I'll fill you in. Gluten sensitivity is merely another "allergic" reaction so that would fit. I doubt however goats are sensitive to gluten but who knows. Might be quality.
I know - my young dog's grandmother and aunt lives in Germany with a now-friend of mine. Her dogs had dirty yeasty ears all the time which she cleaned and kept up with. But she opted to try the raw diet and first thing she noticed was - no more dirty ears. So - I have hope I just messed up a little with a poor quality item or a wrong item at this time for those girls.

Itchy ears is a side effect listed in gluten intolerance for humans... No idea about goats! lol
