What to strive for.

Ok, so I have a break from  school - retraining to one day go back to work hopefully!  Of course, I am using that down time to goat focus ^^, what could be more fun!

Someone sent me this photo of  the best of the best -

"last January she walked into the ring at the Fort Worth Stock Show at eleven years old with twelve freshenings and walked out as Best Doe In Show...she beat some of the best does in the eastern half of the country, there were breders there from Kansas, Georgia, Colorado, Iowa - they come from all over for the Stock Show's ADGA All-Breeds show...meaning she didn't just beat ND's, she beat the big girls too."

Now I understand what a level rump means - depth of body - wow.  sigh.....

  • I was looking at Twin Creeks Bay Watch a buck - wow - is he awesome!  But after talking to to Deb at Deb P Nigerians - I definitely know more about what to look for - for sure.  I have an email friend on facebook that lives in Texas - not a good thing.  Even here, we had late rain, and a feed store I usually buy an alfalfa/orchard grass mix from told me they have had the same supplier for 20 years - and their price was over $300 a ton - so they couldn't deal with those prices - so, no mix this year. I have been feeding orchard grass and giving some alfalfa pellets  - but not everyday - no one in milk, but I do have a 7 month old doeling - they actually "begs" for everyone else.  It's funny, it's like the siblings that one will say, "you ask her - she always says yes to you"  lol - know what I mean?  ^^

Back to goats, I saw the most beautiful doe on Diji Farms site - her name was Mimi - she was white with black spots and so delicate looking and well, she looked very deer like.  And she was awesome - but then my Texas friend commented - that you really want a sturdy, deep, well bodied doe like the one I posted a pic of - to hold up to the milking production process - well, something to that effect anyway.

  • Looks like she sold most of her goats but decided not to completely sell out. I'm glad! I know the drought has been causing a horrible time for them down there. They can't get hay. A couple years ago I was eyeing a buck out of that doe. I thought about buying him for a long time but finally talked myself out of it. She is lovely!

  • She is on Piddlin Acres website.  Says it was updated in November 2011

Wow! She is stunning! Who owns her? I think Val sold all of her goats this past summer.

  • I dont know a email buddy sent me a pic of her.  Last January I think she said was when she was in the Fort Worth Stock Show??
