To my great surprise it appears that Juniper has settled, which means that Ezra got her pregnant when he was only 20 weeks old. She should have come back into heat last week and there's no sign of it.
During the breeding, I saw her tuck her butt and him throw his head back on the dismount, but I wasn't sure he had *ahem* delivered the goods as there was no visible sign of it. And because he's an adolescent male, he showed no finesse, no flirting, and very little chasing though he hit the mark quite easily. I figured without the niceties she wouldn't conceive. Apparently I was wrong.
If she has twins I'm considering naming them May and December. Kidding, of course. But this goes to show that even a young'un can successfully breed.

I have two new bucks this year. One did the job at 5 months, also no fan fare and settled the does. The other didn't settle the two does I used him with at 6+ months so didn't try him again this year. Hopefully he will be fine next fall. I have never run across a sterile buck but guess it could happen but I am thinking he just needs to mature longer.
I'm jealous. My new 8-month-old buck still has NO clue! Tried him again today.
