  • Hey Kate, we used the same one. It was very easy to build and the plans were very easy to follow.
  • This is the one we built, it works great. We got the plans from Fais Co Farm,  type in build your own milk stand plans.
  • Old post but Fiasco Farms has a very nice plan for a goat stand that is available for free.  We used it to make ours.2771467844?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024
  • Pictures would be great. Thanks

Not sure where you are in your milk stand journey.  We have a wonderful stand that has taken some fiddling with to sort out.  But now it works quite wonderfully.  Our four girls jump on, don't mind being 'locked' in and have been great at milking.  We have one girl who still tries to lie down when we start to milk - so I simply put a water pail under her belly so she couldn't lie down...and it seems to work like a charm!  If you'd like pics, I'm happy to send.

  • Interesting milk stands... We made ours from stuff we had laying around here. Only paid for the screws and the bolts. The ply wood that the goats stand on was left over from when we had the new roof put on. There are pictures on my page I think.

  • Great tip - thanks.
  • I give them their grain ration, and for the does that eat too fast I mix alfalfa pellets in with it. One of them doesn't like the alfalfa but the time it takes for her to pick around the pellets and push them out of the bowl gives me the time I need to finish milking her:-)

Right.  We are re-positioning the head piece to make it higher and keep the does from lying down.  Another milk stand question.   When you are milking what are you feeding the doe?  We have been giving the morning grains as I milk, but they soon run out and get fidgety.....would love to know what other do.

    Hi Marin

I just bubble-gummed a version of yours....it will work, but I think we had the feed bowl positioned too low and my doe sat down and wouldn't get up.....can't tell how high yours is.....
