A friend just messaged me about her doeling born night before last. I have no idea how to help but maybe someone here does:
Friend has twins born yesterday morning, asking me for help.Doeling born during night yesterday (night before.
She started not being able to walk late afternoon yesterday. Like her front legs weren't working.
I brought her inside and syringe fed her a little bit a few times in the night. She started seizing in the evening, that's why I kept her in
I gave b complex orally as well as some selenium paste. No change.
Called the vet this morning as she is in pain. He said try rubbing karo syrup on the gums in case it's hypoglycemia. I had maple syrup, so he said try that. A few minutes later seizing stopped and she could stand
I brought her out to mama, she nursed really well, peed/pooped. Then a few minutes later started with the same thing all over again
My apologies for the formatting - copied it off of messaging.

What a challenging situation!
Messages this morning are: Alive, still seizing
and about an hour ago: Little girl is jumping around playing with her brother today!! Keep up the prayers!!
So sad! Let us know what happens.
Thank you all.
Here is where she is this evening (as of 8:00 p.m.:
"I've been at the vet all afternoon and just got home about 30 minutes ago. We sat there with the doeling forever. Wouldn't you know she wouldn't seize in front of him. Finally, just as we were about to leave, she did. Bo se isn't going to help in her case. He said its a seizure from the back part of her brain, not the worst kind, but it isn't great either. He gave me some meds to stop the seizures when they're happening. He said it could be she just needs a few days of support and it could stop. He also said it could be a permanent thing. He think we need to give her a few days before we talk euthanasia. So it looks like I have a few loooong days/nights ahead"
When they gave it to kids that were born via a c-section at U of I, it was something tiny like .1 cc or .2. They used an insulin syringe because the quantity was so small.
How much Bo-Se? I have some and some syringes that I can get to her. Baby is likely two pounds but she doesn't have a scale. I can also take mine to weight her.
(She has called the vet and they are going to *try* to get her in this afternoon; it is now just before 10 a.m. here.)
If she's improving from sugar being absorbed through her mucus membranes but can't seem to digest colostrum, it sounds like something is wrong with her digestive tract.
A good source of high mineral content, that would be easy to get into a kid is Black Strap Molasses. Just be sure it's unsulfured. A 1/2 a tsp of that might help boost her needs.
She tried maple syrup again and then baby was fine for a while, standing. Then started again.
Two things that immediately come to mind ... all the pieces and parts are not quite put together correctly or selenium deficiency. There's nothing you can do if it's the former, but if it's the latter, a BoSe injection might help.
