Selenium Vitamin E gel

What are the thoughts on this?  I ordered some and after getting it, it only has 23.2 mcg per 2 ml and says to dose at 4 ml - for an adult - what size adult??  doesnt say.

it says to use a sole source of selenium and dose 1x every 30 days.

From what I saw on the net - the conclusion is I wasted $6.

  • oh yeah, you have to get the Bo-Se from the vet - course, I guess you dont need an "office visit" to get it.

I used to use that, and I pretty much came to the same conclusion. BoSe, which is injectable, contains 2.19 mg sodium selenite per ml, as well as 50 mg Vit. E. Using BoSe for goats is off-label, but the dosage for sheep is 1 ml per 40 pounds. I give my adult NDs 1.5 ml. Using injectable selenium makes it much more available to the animal because if it goes through the digestive process, it can interact with other things, and you wind up with very little actually being absorbed.
  • I called the vet's office and asked if there was anything I needed to do before breeding. I told them they were up to date on cd/t and had their Bo-Se shot in May. I had just dosed with Ivermectin - they had lice again. They said nope, that's it. However, I saw a sheet from another Vet that recommended 1 cc of Bo-Se. ? Since I have the gel would they benefit at all from it? It is mostly Vit E
