Sad day

Iris delivered 5 doelings this morning but only one was born alive and she didn't make it. I had to go in after the last one. Iris seems to be all right but tired.

No wonder I thought she was big enough to deliver in December.

  • I'm so sorry, Jan! Do you know if they were premature? Quints can be tough, but it's unusual for all five to die. We just had quints a couple weeks ago (all boys), and one was born dead. Two tried real hard to die, but they finally pulled through and are now doing well. It was a really hard labor for Coco because the kids were tangled up. This is shaping up to be a really hard kidding season for a lot of people. Most years, we just all get excited about our beautiful babies! Next year is bound to be better!
  • Unlike my FF who cried for her babies Iris seems oblivious! No crying or looking . She wasn't much interested incleaning the on short lived baby up either. I think this has been a bit much for her.

So sorry for your loss. How is Iris taking it?
  • aw poor Iris! And you! Been a tough year for everyone so far it seems. I'd be tired too after pushing out that many babies. I'd give her some nutri-drench if you haven't already. I hope the next kidding is much better for you!
