I've read that a goat grinding his teeth is a sign they are in pain. I'm trying to figure out what could be causing him pain. He has been out on pasture of grass, alfalfa and assorted weeds. And a handful of BOSS everyday for the past 6 weeks. He is grazing and comes for the BOSS. He is not bloating . I watched for him to pee. He didn't pee a lot but did grind his teeth afterwards. He did not hunch up nor flag his tail and he does grind his teeth at other times than just after he pees. I suspect renal calculi. I think I should treat him with ammonium chloride for that and not wait .
My question is : what else should I look for that would make him grind his teeth

I'm glad he doesn't appear to be ill in any other way. Wow! 55 pounds!? If it cured him, I guess it would be worth it.
Thank you, Patty. I sent a reply but I think it went to your email. He's the same. Still grazing and moving around. He did not grind his teeth when I watched him pee a couple times today but then did it when he walked up to the fence. I'm starting to wonder if it is stones. He does appear to be sick in any other way. I did find a place to buy ammonium chloride in my area, but the smallest size they sell it in is 55 pound bags. I can pick it up tomorrow.
Would he grind his teeth if he had a bad tooth?
How is your boy? I hope you've found some answers by now. Wish I had one for you, but it does seem like you've thought of the most logical things. Any way, I hope he's feeling better.
