Newbie gleaning info

Hello,

Our family is in the middle of purchasing home with acreage. We plan to have a couple goats along with other small animals to start. The Nigerian Dwarfs seem to be perfect for our needs.

Having goats will be a new experience for us, so we're learning all we can ahead of time so we're as prepared as we can be. :)

Thanks for this fantastic site!

  • Hi Michelle, and welcome! We've recently started out with Nigerians too, and this site has been so helpful. It prepared and informed us extremely well right from the start, up to our first kidding four days ago. We'd have been lost without it! May you enjoy your journey with your Nigerians! It is an honor and a pleasure to share your life with goats.

  • Thank you, all, for the warm welcome!

We're in southwest Idaho, just a few hours from the Magic Valley. :)

Our first encounter with goats was during a field trip with our homeschool group to a dairy farm. They raised dairy cows and goats. My youngest had the best time playing with the kids! :o) Now that we'll finally have that dream piece of land, we're looking forward to adding some critters to our family. :)

  • Hi Michelle! I have two sisters who live in Idaho, in the Magic Valley. One raised goats for decades, so I know it's good goat country.

I'm new to goats myself, I've started off with just two. Lots of great info available here!

  • Welcome, Michelle!  You've come to the right place. :)  May goats bring you many hours of pleasure and lots of adventure.

  • Welcome! We're happy to have you join us!
