Mmmm...

My dad is home for a few weeks so yesterday I made him his favorite ice cream - cookies 'n' cream. It wasn't ready to eat until today but goodnes, I must say it is delicious! Goats milk makes everything so much better...

  • Wow, that does sound good, Traci! I'll have to try that sometime for sure. And I also love topping my vanilla ice cream with fruit, especially peaches. The Mocha Chip was amazing, however, the second time I made it I used less chocolate chips because the amount it calls for just makes it a little too "crunchy" for me. I think I just did either 1 cup or 1 1/2 cups instead of 2 cups.

Margaret, sounds like the perfect way to introduce them to it! :)

  • Oh, this all sounds so good! I can't wait! I have got to find someone to get some goat milk from. I think this would also be the very best way to introduce my family to the goat milk as well since they are not use to it and love ice cream! Thanks again girls!

  • Yes I did use an ice cream maker (electric), though it was different than what we have now. The previous one was bigger, but it took a lot longer to freeze. Now we have a Cuisinart and although it's smaller, it makes more than plenty for 5 people and you can eat it immediately after it's done mixing.

Anyway, I used this recipe ( http://www.everything-goat-milk.com/homemade-ice-cream-recipes.html ) and just ommitted the chocolate chips. You could probably also try the Mocha Chocolate Chip recipe further on down the page and just not put the coffee and chocolate chips in. Basically, it's vanilla ice cream with 2 cups crushed Oreo cookies. Just make sure to stir in the crushed Oreos AFTER everything else is done mixing together. As a side note, I've made all four ice cream recipes on the above website and they are all incredible. I've made several attempts at her fudge, but have failed every time. Fudge must not be my forte.

The latest vanilla ice cream recipe I've tried is this one - http://www.theprairiehomestead.com/2012/07/simple-no-cook-vanilla-i... - and I like it better without the vanilla beans. I haven't made cookies 'n' cream with it yet though.

  • yea, I'd like more info about that. It does look delicious!
