minerals

For those of you who use Sweetlix, it is my understanding there is one you feed for alfalfa and a different one for grass hay.  Are you buying both and using them in different pens?  The grass one for bucks and dry does and the alfalfa one for milking does eating Chaffhaye or alfalfa hay?

  • Ask your local feed store if they can order it. I found out that way, that my local feed store had access to one with higher copper and selenium content than meatmaker, so that's what I've been using, but the CoOp in a town also close to me had MM on hand.

  • Where do ya'll buy your Sweetlix Meatmaker? I can't find it and if I order it, the shipping alone is $15 on top of the minerals.

  • I would especially be risking a lot using the milker version. I don't feed alfalfa.

  • MeatMaker assumes you're feeding grass hay, but it's the one that most people use. I've never used the Magnum Milker. It has less calcium, and since the MeatMaker has always worked for us, I'd worry about switching to a mineral that has half as much calcium.
