My FF doe (day145-150 pen bred within this date range) ligaments started going soft yesterday morning. By late afternoon there were gone. I moved her into the kidding pen then. She did have some mild contractions. She stretched out and her behind souls tighten up and then release but not really any discharge. She only had contractions for about 20 minutes than nothing. She is acting normal this a.m. And still no discharge or contractions. I am not good at seeing a dropped abd. but it looks kinda sunk in and her utter is getting mildly bigger. her sister bred at same time delivered six days ago. Is this okay? Read somewhere that labor stopping is a bad sign but was her signs really labor or just getting ready? Should I be worried? Thanks a lot.

Thanks for all the advice from everyone. It helped a lot. She was still not doing much this morning, so after watching her all night I ran up the road for some chicken food. Join maybe 20 minutes. And of course she had her then. Grrr. She is very big and healthy. Weighs 3 lbs 12 oz. started nursing within minutes and hasn't really stopped yet. I think she is stunning. We had 2 FF and they both had 1doe apiece. The other doe is 6 days old and very active. She has gained 2lbs so far, I hope that is good. Very happy goat mama today.

Good points Deb! They really are like us in so many ways! Heck I had real labor for weeks! I am so weird aren't I? But if you dilate...it's real, not braxton hicks...and I always thought I was in labor and then it would stop...but I was dilating...every week for about 3 weeks...then I finished right up!
Goats can have false labor just like people. If you happen to be with them at just the right moment, you'll see what looks like they're in very early labor and then nothing. The other thing is that when you're fairly new to goats, you can project your own desire for them to give birth onto their behavior. I've known people who stayed in the barn for days (and nights) with a doe that they swore was in labor, but it turned out that she wasn't even pregnant.
Was she only with the buck for five days? If so, how do you know she was in heat during that time? What does her udder look like?

For right now I would say as long as she is acting ok don't worry!
Keep an eye on her, see what the others say and update us on changes!
