kid bitting dams teat

I have a doe that has sores at the base of both her teats. She is nursing two doelings right now and the only thing I can think of is one of the doelings is bitting her teat. I know she is still nursing the kids because I have been keeping a close watch on them and have seen her nurse them many times throughout a day. My question is what can I do for the doe? Is there anything I can put on the sores to help them heal that is save for the kids? She in not bleeding the sores are scabed over. I am milking her once a day and she does not seem to be to unconfortable. Any advice would be helpful thanks

  • Pure lanolin is great for that. If you make soap,  you can buy lanolin from almost any soapmaking supply company. It is also GREAT for chapped lips. I have a jar of it for myself.

I've never had a young kid do that -- typically only kids that are 4-6 months old, and if they do it, they get separated until the doe's teat heals.
