Introducing myself

Hi Dianea Fay sent me an invitation to join this group....so here I am. My name is Linda Worley and my husband and I own Good Measure Farm. We are a 38 acre farm in central Oklahoma. We grow our own hay, fruit, and vegetables. We have a herd of Nigerian Dwarf Dairy goats that number about 86. We have three children....Jeremy (who would be 41...he passed away in 2004); Jacob (who is 40, an Anglican pastor in Las Cruces, NM); and Jenny (who is 31...Jenny is handicapped and is the joy of our lives..she lives at home with us ). We have 6 grandchildren...one of them started college this year and three are driving...YIKES...makes me feel old. We got our first Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats in 2000....and that started us on a wonderful path. We have made the best and dearest friends of our lives and continue to learn new things all the time. We enjoy breeding, raising, showing and milking our goats. Although we had participated in one day milk tests for several years, 2009 was the first year we enrolled in 305 DHI. We test through AGS. It has been a great year. In my life before goats, I was a Registered Nurse Officer in the United States Public Health Service, so I have a good familiarity with medical/health issues. That said, I want to say that any information I offer or suggestions I make, only reflect "the way I do it". In most instances, there are many good ways to handle health issues...I am not a veterinarian, and make no claims to being an expert....just someone with some experience and good intentions. Thank you for acetping me into this forum I look forward to meeting everyone.. Our websire is www.goodmeasurefarm.com

  • Hello-and welcome- I to was introduced by Dianea Fay. She also suggested I should ask you about my goats. I have two little boys (9mons) that have developed coughs. This is the only symtom they eat, play, have beautiful coats no runny noses. When I first got them I had problem with given them their wormer (they weren't used to pellets) but eventually I got them to take it. Dianea said some of hers had a cough but hers seemed fine also. She has sent me some information on lung worms, do you know anything on this or have any suggestion on what it might be other than lung worms or should I treat as if they have them and see if it doesn't get better?

I would be interested in any information you could give me, Dianea has spoken alot about you in the help she has recieved on her goats from you.

    Thanks, Denise
