  • I got mine at our local plumbing and electrical supply store (Grover's).  It was setting out with some pallets so I went in and asked about it; they told me it was mine if I wanted it.  So I called my ex to bring his truck.  Ironically, I got it over a year before I had any goats!  (But I knew I was going to get some so grabbed one when I saw it.)  When you get one, be certain you cover the holes before you put it in their pen so you don't have a tragedy.  I have actually seen them where people have not covered them. :-(

You might want to set it on a layer of bricks or on gravel to extend the time it takes to rot the bottom so they have longer to play on it.  Also, be certain to check the top periodically; friends of mine said they checked theirs and found it was about to fall apart so removed them from the pasture.  I have a stack of pallets with plywood fastened to the top pallet in their alternate pen - they love it, anything to climb on. :-)  Pallets are usually easier to acquire than spools though they cannot get under them like spools.

  • I got my two spools by looking on Craigslist.  I might also call and ask your local phone or electric company, they are the ones who use them.  Hope you find some, my goats love them!!

  • Ask at building supply places, like Home Depot or Lowes. They might can help you out. If you happen to find a nice person that works there they may give you one when available. Some times you can get them through power cos. or maybe cable t.v. cos.. I would like to find some more myself. Hopefully someone will have some more ideas.
