We just brought home an 8 week old buckling to our two does (1 and 3 yrs) They are not giving him a very nice welcome. Should I keep them separate overnight...or leave them to work it out. The two girls are ganging up on him and butting him all over the place. Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

We were very lucky to have a smaller place to keep the three little one separate, but close to my older ones. They were about 3 months old when we finally started introducing them to each other. Every afternoon after we came home from work we would bring the 3 young ones into the pen. I guess it was like supervised visits. They didn't get along all that great at first, and it made me very nervous but after a while and a few prayers it all worked out. They had to work it out for themselves. I hope this helps you. Good luck.
Umm.. think I would separate and let them get to know each other under a bit of a watchful eye. Would be a shame to find he got seriously hurt while no one was their to notice. Even if just a barrier fence.
If you choose not to keep them quarantined and they don't get along introductions may be safer if they have a fence between them for a while first and can get to know each other that way. That helps with lots of types of animals and is a lot safer with a big age and size difference. I personally would not leave a young kid in that situation unattended, he really could get hurt. Sorry I don't know how to get them to like him although I doubt it will take very long.
how old when you put in together? I dont want to separate him, a he will be on his own...but also dont want him to get beat up!
Hi, We keep are separated for a while when we got new goats. We had 2 ( brother and sister ), then about a year later we got a
rescue who was about 5 weeks. So we keep him separated , then we got 2 more about 8 weeks old. We put them in with the
rescue. They did great together. When those 3 were bigger we put them all into the same place. It made me nervous at first
because the other ones did pick on them but after a while they all adjusted just fine. Hope that helps
