  • Thats good to know my girls are first freshners and this last spring was our first kidding. Thanks again
  • Not a problem. She will stop producing milk within a couple months of kidding, and the kid will stop nursing. You don't need to do anything.

My doe is not a heavy milker. But my challenge is that she has a doeling from the spring still nursing off her. I am only milking her once a day now. But with her having the doeling still nursing even if I stop milking she will continue to produce milk. She is also rebred and about a month pregnet. So I was wanting to dry her off in about a month.

  • No idea about the sage oil. Are you trying to dry up a heavy milker or facing any particular challenges? Normally, when a doe's production starts to slow down to the point that it's not worth it to continue milking her (like a cup a milking), I drop to once a day. Usually within a week, I'm only getting a cup at that single milking, and if you quit at that point, their udder never fills up again -- until the next freshening, of course.
