Hi guys
I noticed this morning that Penny's tale was crusty so I picked it up to see what was going on and there is greenish mucous discharge from her vagina. What does that mean? What do I do?
Thanks
Juliana

Thank you!! I'll check her temp in the morning when I can get her into the stanchion and torture her... lol IF my possibly pregnant doe starts to show any similar signs, are there any antibiotics I shouldn't give?
Well, I washed her up good this morning and there was no more discharge during the day, she was clean at night milking.
I gave her some probiotics...figured it couldn't hurt. ??
I emailed her breeder about it, who is a vet, and she said that if it persisted I should get her some antibiotics. I asked her how long I should wait before antibiotics and she has not answered yet. I will let you guys know what she says.
No she has not kidded recently. Her last kid was over a year ago. I did not temp her, but she acts normal, eating voraciously...
As for swelling, I couldn't say. When I saw her crusty tail I lifted it but that was actually the first time i've ever lifted her tail and looked under there :) I've only owned this goat for a few months.
Juliana,
Has this doe kidded anytime recently? Have you taken her temperature to see whether she has a fever?Did you notice any odor to it? Any swelling of the vulva? It could be urinary or vaginal infection. I would clean it up with a warm, wet rag and see whether it recurs, if she has no other symptoms. If it does recur, then you will need to consider antibiotics. (Unfortunately, Goat Medicine seems to have NO information of this, other than a few horrendous conditions that have other symptoms.)
