Doe behavior change when settled?

Hey all-

I have a funny question.  I'm wondering if  any of you have had a doe that had a major personality change when she settled.  My doe Starlight was with a buck from December 1 to 23.  About a week ago I noticed she was more stand-offish than usual.  She's always been a very mello girl, never jumping up and usually the last to come up to me, but at least she enjoyed being petted.  Now she runs from me.  The girls coats are so fluffy now that it's kind of hard to tell how their body condition is, so I caught her to check her tail.   I actually had to chase her around to catch her, and I think she "growled" at me.  What do you think?  Something else wrong, or sure sign of pregnancy? :)

  • LOL!  I'm hoping the same thing, and that it reverses when she freshens, because I'm not looking forward to attempting to milk the "growling" goat. ;)  She's always been a sweet girl, and and is still okay as long as you don't try to invade her space for more that a little scratch on the whithers.  I'll have to see how the next hoof trimming goes.  She's always been lovely to work with on the milk stand (until now).  Maybe she is holding a grudge, lol.

  • One of my does that would crawl in your lap friendly, did the same thing.  I bred her with my buck and then a few weeks later she wants nothing to do with me.  She is still that way. She won't run away from me, but she isn't as loveable as she was before.  I feel like she is punishing me for breeding her! LOL  She's due in 8 weeks, so hoping this is just a hormone thing and not a personality change.  I know I was moody when I was pregnant, so maybe this is kinda the same thing ;0)
