I have viewed the photos here of Patricia's doe 'Tassie' whose face looks crooked (March 27, 2013), but as was discussed, the crookedness might be an illusion due to the markings.
I would like to know more about crooked face. What is it that is crooked? Is it the alignment of eyes to nose? Is it the nose and the mouth? Are the ears and eyes not spaced evenly? Are there degrees of crooked?
Does any member have a photo of a goat with a crooked face which is less confusing than that of 'Tassie" with her deceptive markings?
Thanks for any help,
Michael Garwood
By the way, for anyone who is interested, my container of frozen embryos and semen straws arrived today! Yay!!!!
(Now it just has to pass Quarantine and DNA matching which should not be a problem and I am on my way to the FIRST herd of Nigerians in Australia! Hoo hoo!)

That's right. I've only had one doe with a crooked face, so it's pretty rare. I didn't even notice it until she was almost a year old. I sold her without papers simply because I didn't want her to ever wind up with someone who might want to show her. I'd hate for someone to take a goat into the show ring and get a nasty surprise like that. I didn't even know that it was a fault until I noticed it on that doe. My doe had a solid-colored face so there were no optical illusions happening. I pointed it out to the buyer, telling her that's why she was being sold without papers, and she said that made her love the doe even more. :) This was a fourth-generation doe born on my farm, and her mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma are all beautiful goats with perfect heads.

So it is a generalised condition rather than a specific mutation/condition (such as being hermaphrodite or polled, etc. might be) and there are degrees of "crooked", is that correct? Does that mean in moderate cases it is purely subjective? ("My nose is too long and my ears are ugly and so I am off to the plastic surgeon!")
Do I understand that right?

Everything basically needs to be symmetrical and spaced evenly.
Rachel,
I hope this works:

Otherwise, type crooked face in the search bar at top right of the page.
