Our local feed store has Nutrena Beet Pulp Pellets on sale. I was considering getting a bag to use as treats for my girls. They usually get apples or carrots at bedtime but a change might be good. I have read that beet pulp is good for them. Is using beet pulp a good idea or a bad idea? I certainly don't need it for weight gain since one of my girls is very overweight and another very likely needs to be closely monitored. This would be for treats only.

Yes, GMO I do not want. I suspect they could be getting some I don't know about but I sure don't need to knowingly give it to them. And, no, they don't need anything for gaining weight! Only Summer is getting extra; she is giving me nearly a quart a milk a day so she gets lots of sunflower seeds and alfalfa pellets. The others occasionally get a dozen or so seeds as a special treat and the nutrition in them but that is the exception.
Ginger and I both need to lose 20 pounds. Sadly, I am doing better than she is but not much. I will be working more with her on leash so she and I both go for long walks. The bad part is that when one goat leaves the yard, even on the other side of the fence where they can see each other, the three left inside raise Cain (or try to!).
Unless the bag says they are not GMO, I would assume they are. If you want to avoid those, I'd skip them... and raisins work well for treats too. ;) although, if you're trying to get them to lose weight, they probably don't need them.
I quit feeding beet pulp when I learned that almost all sugar beets in this country are genetically modified. Aside from that, it doesn't sound like your girls need any treats. :)
