  • Thanks so much Glenna for posting this. It has me totally freaked out, but at least I have something to go on here. I will be looking for signs of a possible problem with this.

I had 7 does exhibit slight bleeding about 2 months after breeding. One had a little goop kinda like right before they start to deliver. Deborah suggested that it may be toxoplasmosis. I wasn't as concerned then, as long as the does were ok I wasn't going to worry. Now I am a little worried about this.

I haven't seen any breeding activity in months even though they have been penned with the bucks. In fact I haven't seen any activity since the bleeding. None of them are making udders yet either. Do ya'll think they are at SOME stage of pregnancy or what? I have 9 girls from 18 months to about 24 or more months split up with two bucks.

Is it right to assume that they would have lost the kids just because of a little blood or is possible that they can bleed just a little and not lose them just like people sometimes do? I really don't know what to think about what is going on here with these girls. None of those girls look very big.

I never saw Anchovy bleed and she has been looking very big until the last two days and now she doesn't look quite as big as she did. She isn't developing an udder yet either though.

And the littlest one, Gennie had not been with the buck until after the bleeding. I put her in shortly thereafter, so she was not part of that at all.

I don't mean to whine here, but ya'll I am feeling like I will never get kids out of these girls! Somebody please tell me that sooner or later these girls will have kids. I cannot be sitting on 9 dudes! We had already bred several of them last spring for fall kids and no one settled! If they don't have kids this spring that will be a whole year of waiting! I sure hope all of this is just youth related! Especially since the buck with 4 of the 9 didn't turn 1 until Oct.and is not proven yet.
