Any easy goat jungle gym like projects??

I would like to make my goats something easy, cool and well cheap that they can play on. I'm 15 and would like to use scrap wood my dad has laying around. They have a plastic baby playground in there fence, a piece of a tree stump and an old dog house. I want to make something for them since my dad and I made the fenced in area bigger. I only have two goats so it can be small. Any ideas?????? Thanks.

  • Thanks. I will just have to use my imagination and figure some more things out for them.

  • An a-frame shelter utilizing scrap lumber and shingle parts of the sides of it with scrap asphalt shingles (helps keep the hoofs "trimmed" as natural rock would) provides a toy as well as shelter.  Mine, built in their alternate pen, is made from cedar fence panels with the boards vertical (vs. horizontal) so if they "give" there won't be a hoof going through. I just leaned the panels against each other and fastened them together though later I will likely build a real frame so it won't "walk" and get lower and wider; I did not brace the ends to prevent creep.  I also have strips of lathe fastened at an angle horizontally so they have something to keep them from sliding but not so close together it isn't a challenge.  (Also holds the shingle bottoms down.)  They love to run through it as well.
My girls love to run up and and "balance" on the top.  Underneath it (inside against one "wall"), I have a plastic barrel with the end cut out so they can go inside it.  Often, one will be missing and that is where she is.  I also have another barrel outside that Ginger loves to play on; she seems to like that it will start to roll and the challenge to stay on it.

I have pallets stacked with plywood fastened on the top so feet don't go through the openings; they like those as much as spools.  They love any type of ramp to climb, a 2x12 is perfect though they will climb along a 2x4 as well.  They don't care if it goes anywhere but up.<g>

Just remember to not put anything off the ground close enough to the fence they can jump out.
