5 week old doeling in HEAT

My darling little 5 week old doeling, Khaki is in HEAT. She has been flagging at the fence all day and even stands for her buckling brother who fortunately isn't extending much yet. Is this crazy early or what? She's just a baby!! She has a little discharge but mostly is just standing by the boy's fence all day driving them crazy flagging her tail. I took a video to post but I guess I'd have to put it on youtube. Here's a pic though:

  • Definitely abnormal.
  • So this is completely ABNORMAL right? Would you be concerned there is something wrong with her? Maybe her mama's raging hormones she's had lately caused this? I'm hoping this does not repeat in 3 weeks! I hate for her to be "aging" this quickly.

  • Most of my does do not come into heat until they are close to 6 months. I have had three or four that came into heat at 3 months, but I think that was just an anomaly because I did not see them come into heat again for a few months.
  • What is the most common age to come into heat? My first two doelings didn't have a buck around so I didn't even know when they were in heat for their first times. When my doe Surrey had two bucklings last year, I started learning about heat cycles then (they taught me lol!).

  • Wow! That is a first for me! Good thing you have strong fences, although I still feel sorry for the bucks. A couple of weeks ago I had several does coming into heat, which is unusual for this time of year.
  • WOW!  That is crazy!

  • OMG tonight she has white estrous! Check it out:
