I know milking is old hat to many of you but for the last 7 years - I've been deficient in these skills. Couldn't get milk from my sheep and not from my friends goats who were steady edy milkers.
But this morning - it happened. I've been working on the routine on the milking stand and massaging udders and such. Maybe I'll be getting milk!
Wish me (and my friend) luck!!

Judy I am right there with you. This is my first year to have does in milk.
The first few times I tried to milk and play the "let's not step in, spill or otherwise ruin the milk" game I was a nervous wreck. I had a hard time figuring out how to get the milk to come out. When I finally saw that "first squirt" I almost jumped for joy!!!
I made my first chèvre two weeks ago...holy goat it was delicious and I was so proud of me and our FF!!
Congrats Judy! It took awhile for me to get the hang of it and it's still hard with my FF's who have such tiny teats, but the rewards are so worth the effort! Good news is their teats do get bigger and easier to milk as they get older and re-freshen!
Congratulations! I was in that same boat a couple of years ago. Couldn't get a drop. One of my friends who has had goats for a long time came over and had no trouble getting milk out of my first doe. She showed me her technique and after a certain amount of wrangling with my FF doe (poor girl!), I got the hang of it and now I love milking and find it relaxing. I hope you're enjoying big glasses of home-grown milk very soon! And cheese, and yogurt, and kefir.....
