Hi everyone! I'm new on this forum and a 1 year goat owner. I have 3 Nigerian dwarfs. My question is will a buck mate with a doe who is not in heat? I didn't know that this particular goat was in heat. The other are 2 are (at least I believe so. One may just be ending her heat). Thanks!

A buck will breed any doe that stands still long enough for him to do it. Some bucks are sneaky! However, if she's not in heat, she will run and not let him surprise her again. If she happily stands there and lets him breed her, she probably did not get pregnant last time.
hi, been little while, i was wondering will a buck breed after a does been bred ?
Yes, it all sounds normal. I remember our first breeding season back in 2002 with a young buck, a young doe, and two mature does. One of the older does was really beating him up. I was worried that it would make him scared of the does, and that he wouldn't do his job very well, but that was never a problem!
thank you! 2 of the 3 I witnessed him breeding, had his head thrown back etc. It was at least 3 times so I assume they were really in heat. I saw signs on one but not the other. Right now the does and the buck are making the strangest noises! The doe that I think is ending her heat is being really aggressive with the buck, like head butting him and butting him in the side. Is this normal? I don't want him to be injured! He is younger than them but capable! I love this site!! So much info.!
