Hi All - I'm awaiting our first kidding -day 145 is on Sunday. Very excited!
I have my video set up over the kidding pen. I can't see any other part of the barn.
When should I put the doe in - I don't want to stress her by forcing separateness too early - although this is all within the barn and they can all see each other.
I see no signs yet of impending birth. Doe is always affectionate, ligs are still strong, has had a big udder for last month, babies are still sticking out on the sides so Sunday is still a ways off.
BUT I can't go check on her easily unless she is in the pen - so what do you recommend?

Hi Deborah -
The pen is a good size for a kidding pen but not big enough for 4 adults- although I could put 2 in there. That might solve it - the two sisters could go in there. I'll ponder it.
All my goats are suddenly eating minerals - wethers, yearlings (dry), older dry goat and 3 pregnant girls. I COULD be that I'm just there more doing tons of preparation but it could also be that I've balanced them in other ways and now they want the minerals - (or vice versa).
Either way - the pregnant girls are all loving attention - especially gentle brushing. They stand as if in a trance while they get de-thatched. A little massage. Some smooth soft horse brushing.
Wish us luck over the next bunch of days. I have some nice local mentors ready to come hold my hand but I hope to join some of you - check on goats- go away - come back to find 2 nursing babies! That is my visual!
And this is why your goats are suddenly eating minerals -- or at least this doe. :)
This is very tough for someone who is new to goats. Could you just put all of the goats in there at night when you start to think she is getting close?
