Our kids are only one week old so this isn't something I need to deal with right away. However, we would like some opinions on what to feed them when they need something in addition to milk. Also, when would they need something other than mom's milk?

I have a friend who feeds rabbit food. Others who feed grain. Some feed seed.

We are not a dairy and only plan on using the milk (once we start milking) for our personal needs.  We would like to keep it simple and healthy for our goats.

Currently for our adult does we use "Payback Goat Tender". They have free choice hay and minerals and give them alfalfa once a week. The adolescents get free choice hay and minerals.

The mom is getting hay and alfalfa plus grain. She also has free choice minerals.

  • Dam-raised kids will start to nibble at their mom's food when they are only a few days old, so no need to worry or plan.
