Is there a temperature that is to hot or cold for a goat? Our temperature is up and down right now.  Today it will be over 80 degrees.  Later this week, it will be in the 50's.  What do you all do if it gets really hot or cold? Any information would be great.

  • My goats have never had a problem with the cold, except for the poor doe that was kidding when it was 15 below zero! She was shivering violently, which really scared me. I cut the sleeves off a sweatshirt and put that on her.

As for heat, most of them are fine. They're from Africa originally. I've had a doe or two who seems really exhausted when it gets into the 90s. I brought a goat home from a show one time because she was just standing over the water bucket panting all day. I assumed the added stress of the show as getting to her, because I've never seen her do that here. People at shows often have fans on their goats, but if mine are outside, there is always a breeze.
