Tired and frustrated.

I have a buck 3 yrs old. has always benn healthy happy and lovable. If ya'll seen all my posts on face book I have been struggling with parasites this yr have lost 6.

Sam has been off and on treatment the whole time . have tried everything that's been suggested. red cell, b-12, sulfa, valbuzen, cydectin, herbal, penecillian, la200. poor guy. anyways the best treatment that seemed to work was sulf- (Di-methox) for 4 days and b12. have used this treatment twice with standard wormer. worked for about a month. tonight he is dehydrated, and stool is running out of him. he is eating normal, eyes and mouth white (still) and he is active for Sam (hes always been kinda slow.) I just gave him some pepto (not pepto the other can't remember name). should I put him on regime below again or should I look at something els?

 Di-Methoox Concentrated Solution 12.5%

  • Soluble Powder mixed as follows: dissolve one package (107 gms) in three cups of water. Keep refrigerated. Administer/Drench directly into mouth

Dose:

Give Orally - Administer straight into the mouth using a syringe (remove the needle). Do not just add it to the kid's water because you will not know if he receives the correct dose. Do not add it to his milk because the milk effects the potency of the drug.

Five day treatment- you must treat the full five days. (we have begun experimenting with only treating three days for the prevention treatment.)
Day one: 1 ml per 5 pounds- given orally.
Days 2-5: 1 ml per 10 pounds- given orally.

  • this worked then he did a down hill slide about a month later, we have so far lost him , Dunkin our first goat and herd sire, Romeo, our alpine sire, and midnight our backup sire. we have discovered that there are plants in this region that are very toxic. such as johnson grass once a frost hits it it basically turns to cyanide killing them quickly. attempted getting autopsy but had no way to preserve carcass for the 24 hour wait to transport. did fecal myself no signs of cocci, or barber. in fact there was no active worms at all (sample taken from midnight 2 hrs before death)

  • What do you do for copper supplementation? When goats are copper deficient, it can mimic iron-deficiency anemia, and goats that are copper deficient have a very low tolerance for parasites, so a small load can kill them.
