Testing Milk

Hello!  Does anyone here test their milk for bacteria and such, outside of mastitis strips?  I'm curious about the protocol for "guaranteeing" safety in raw milk.

  • If you're planning to sell your milk, you should check on your state regulations. They may have specific rules you have to follow. In Illinois, we now have to have our milk tested for coliform counts, which is not that uncommon.

If you are just drinking it yourself, I've never heard of anyone testing their milk. They either make the decision to drink it raw or pasteurize it, if they're worried about it.
